On March 4, 2026, Sarah J. Maas confirmed in a highly anticipated episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast that the long-awaited sixth book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series will be released on October 27, 2026, followed by a seventh installment on January 12, 2027.
The announcement came as a surprise. Not only because of the dates — but also because of what Maas revealed about the scope of the project.
Fans of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series have spent the five years since the last book bickering, theorizing, and biting their nails. But author Sarah J. Maas? She was writing — a lot.
Why There Are Three New Books Coming
This is the biggest surprise of the announcement.
ACOTAR 6 will be released on October 27, and ACOTAR 7 (parts two and three) will be released on January 12, 2027. A fourth book, or part, will follow after that.
That means: there will not be two but three new ACOTAR books. Maas herself explains why:

The result: the story has been divided into four parts. The first part is ACOTAR 6 and is over 400 pages long. Parts two and three are combined in ACOTAR 7. Part four is still being written.

This is where it gets interesting — and also honest: the release date of October 27, 2026, has been officially confirmed. The title, the couple from whose perspective the story is told, the cover, the synopsis, and the spice level have not.

Lucien and Elain
The complicating factor: Elain and Lucien are mate-bonded. If Maas picks up that thread, it creates a whole different dynamic. The question is whether Maas respects the mating bond or breaks it.

"If I feel like I'm having writer's block, I tell myself, 'Get to work.' But this was different. This was different," Maas said. "I had to figure something out first, and so this came out, because when the right story hit me, it hit me hard and I had a vision from the beginning of what it would be, how I would deliver it to you."
She embraced the freedom to tell stories only when the timing is right — free from the narrative boxes authors often feel trapped in.
The News About the Hulu Series
While the ACOTAR adaptation had been quiet for a long time, Maas gave her fans an update on the canceled Hulu series and what's to come.
The ACOTAR TV series at Hulu is currently not actively in production. Maas has confirmed that she hopes the series will eventually be made, but there are no confirmed plans or casting news at this time.
